Five Modules, One Simple Interface
EMSI's labor market research tool, Analyst, is made up of five modules -- all designed to help you quickly and easily access the most comprehensive data on employment, demographics, educational attainment, human capital, and more.
Take a quick video tour of Analyst to learn more.
Economic Forecaster:
Provides current and projected employment data for any region -- from a single ZIP code to any county or MSA in the U.S. -- that includes both industry and workforce (occupation) perspectives. It is used by education, workforce, and economic development professionals to assess regional economic trends and help make decisions based the most current available data.
What's included: Data on industries and occupations (including job counts, short- and long-term projections, earnings, unemployment, and staffing patterns) and demographics (population by age, race/ethnicity, and gender).
Economic Impact:
Allows users to run impact scenarios, analyze their region's economic base, and view selected regional economic indicators. Input-output reports can use either single industries or industry clusters.
What's included: Model what-if scenarios (simulate total jobs gained or lost due to changes in one or more industries); define and analyze regional industry clusters and economic base; discover the highest-impact industries to recruit.
Career Pathways:
Used to address dislocated worker scenarios, forecast training needs, prepare the workforce for new regional industries, and give guidance to individual workers regarding their skills and employment options. Economic development groups also use it to recruit businesses by showing the availability of a qualified regional workforce.
What's included: Compare any occupation's competency profiles, based on O*NET scores; look for the best transition scenarios into and from industries and occupations; get an overview of your region's human capital.
Educational Analyst:
Helps regional workforce, education, and training professionals access the information they need to plan for the region’s workforce needs. Community colleges, for example, use the tool to (1) make sure that their programs are responsive to the regional labor market by linking programs to occupations, (2) compare their performance against peer institutions, and (3) analyze relevant demographic information such as educational attainment.
What's included: Analyze how your college's educational programs are responding to regional needs; review regional educational attainment and career cluster data; find how many providers in your area are offering training for specific programs.
EMSI GIS:
Provides powerful Geographic Information System (GIS) functionality to display maps of nearly all the data available in other modules. With EMSI GIS, data visualization is fast, easy, and flexible. This tools is ideal for creating quick reports or visuals for presentations.
What's included: Map employment data for any region based on growth, concentration, earnings, and more; view demographic trends down specific county and ZIP codes; compare your region's educational attainment and completers to other areas.
