Career Pathways
Now more than ever, workforce and education professionals are finding skills transferability and human capital analysis to be a crucial element for retraining. Career Pathways makes this kind of occupational analysis quick and easy.
Combining the O*NET database with EMSI’s detailed labor market figures, Career Pathways reveals the transferability of workers’ competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities) from one occupation to another. Clients have used Career Pathways to move jobseekers from declining occupations to high-growth occupations, as well as recommend specific training to retool the skill sets of displaced workers.
Functionality
- Quickly see compatible knowledge and skill sets (competencies) for the top occupations most impacted by job losses
- Generate suggested transition areas based on the availability of work in other industries employing workers in the same occupational category (e.g. a team assembler moving from the household appliance industry to the wood product industry)
- Understand if the wages of the compatible occupations are competitive
- Understand if the education level of the compatible occupations are above, below, or equal to the occupation they currently have. This will indicate what training would be needed to take on the new occupation.
- Locate relevant postsecondary programs in the area, and see how many graduates they produced in the most recent year
- Link worker competencies to occupations projected to grow
- Compare occupations using skills, knowledge, and abilities
- Create transition plans to move workers to or from specific industries and occupations
- Assess regions by the skills embedded in the workforce
