Jay Hardin uses EMSI’s analysis to proactively plan for projected industry change. By closely monitoring the pulse of his local economy, he assists Workforce Alliance, Inc. with strategic planning, early intervention for declining industries, and worker-training scenarios. To accomplish this, Hardin uses EMSI’s web-based tool, Strategic Advantage, to locate industries that are projected to decline. He can narrow his focus quickly with his local knowledge of individual businesses. Next, he runs impact scenarios in SA to quantify the possible effects of job layoffs in the affected industry. Once he has a clear idea of possible outcomes, Hardin informs the Workforce Alliance team, which can respond with early, proactive intervention in the form of business grants, re-training programs, and individualized solutions for each business. This forward-thinking approach to workforce solutions drastically reduces the time it takes to react to industry change or job loss.
