Ozarks Technical Community College recently released the results of a economic impact study performed by EMSI.
The study found that the college has an annual impact of $211.8 million on the local economy. Much of this impact is related to the $168.6 million in added regional income generated by past students.
The following chart, taken from EMSI’s report, can be found at OTC’s website.

“Our impact has been felt in Springfield and throughout southwest Missouri for many years,” OTC President Hal Higdon said. “This study gave us an opportunity to quantify that impact on our community’s economy, demonstrating in hard figures what we already knew from the stories of our students: OTC improves the careers, finances, and lives of individuals, which in turn improves the community.”
