As we recently noted, Mount Wachusett Community College has become the first college in Massachusetts to use EMSI’s Career Coach. Brenda Schelling-Biggs (Director of Institutional Planning & Effectiveness) and Fagan Forhan (Director of Experiential Learning Opportunities & Civic Engagement) are spearheading the project designed to “connect your dreams with reality.”
MWCC, an accredited, public, two-year institution serving 29 cities and towns in North Central Massachusetts, is proud to deliver this benefit to its students. MWCC Career Coach provides current local data on wages, employment, and job postings, as well connections to the college’s associate degrees, certificate programs, adult basic education/GED programs, education & training for business & industry, and noncredit community service programs. AmeriCorps Job Ready members have been recruited as ambassadors for the tool to provide tutorials and instruction on an as-needed basis at MWCC and throughout the area. Each has been assigned to a participating middle school, high school/community-based programs, and Career Centers.
But Career Coach will help more than students. It will benefit the greater community and support the state’s interest in connecting the available workforce to employers.
“What is your career direction?” asks MWCC. “Let MWCC Career Coach get you there.”
