EMSI is pleased to announce that we switched providers for the business data in Analyst and Developer. After reviewing the breadth and accuracy of several vendors’ offerings, EMSI has selected InfoUSA as our new source of business listings. If you currently subscribe to business data, you should have seen a switch from Equifax to InfoUSA in late May.
Under this new agreement, InfoUSA has provided EMSI with its comprehensive database of 16 million business records across the United States. InfoUSA compiles this list from over 4,000 directories and over 350 new business sources, including new business filings, daily utility connections, county courthouse filings and public record notices. InfoUSA then keeps this list up to date utilizing a team of 350 full-time researchers involved in web research, news monitoring, and monitoring of user-generated content. Because over 80% of business records experience some type of change in a given year, this continuous monitoring and updating is critical to the reliability of the data.
Business data provides another layer of detail on top of EMSI’s comprehensive industry data. It allows you to see businesses’ names, estimated employee count, and many other details by their primary NAICS code. This is great for facilitating communication between your organization and the businesses in your area.
Here is a summary of what is included in EMSI’s business data report:
- Primary NAICS code and industry name
- Estimated employment count
- Contact name, title, and phone number
- Location information, including latitude/longitude and address
- Additional business information, including year established, annual sales, and website address
