Today, we are pleased to announce the release of the new, redesigned Analyst for Canada, featuring EMSI’s comprehensive labour market data in a simplified, more intuitive interface so that using the data is faster and easier than ever. We are very excited to deliver this refined version of our flagship tool and are confident it will enhance our clients’ ability to improve the economies in their regions.
Starting now, Analyst users will automatically see the new tool when they log in, with the option of toggling between the old and new interfaces until July 1, 2015. Below is a walkthrough of the improvements.
We’ve made it easier to get to the data you need. Click on the any of the task cards on the homepage to research job growth, wages, or any metric by data type: industries, occupations, educational programs, or demographics. This same basic report structure can be accessed using the reports dropdown at the top of the page no matter where you are in the tool.
The search bar, now more prominent, allows you to intuitively sift through reports, regions, occupations, industries, and educational programs by keyword—all in one spot. You can also search for a generic job title (like doctor) and get results on matching occupations, besides a list of industries that employ doctors and the programs that train for them.
Tables are easier to read and faster to load. We’ve added more columns in many tables and updated the options interface to make selection easier. Filters can be combined and applied more flexibly. Finally, some of the less used but powerful tables (such as staffing patterns) have been updated with new features.
Maps’ new look matches the rest of the tool. The feature also works similarly to tables so that more data points are mappable. Vastly streamlined code means more stability and ensures that maps will mature with Analyst as a whole.
A new group management system makes it easier to create, edit, and share groups. Program review groups (formerly profiles) are managed just like other groups, making program review easier. And now any group can be saved from within an options pane, connecting the groups section to everywhere else in the product.
