In nearly every city and region, economic development professionals work to increase prosperity. They help recruit new companies to their regions. They help existing businesses flourish and expand. And they help create opportunities for people.
And yet, save for the occasions when the recruitment of a big company makes headlines, the work that economic developers do—and the value they bring to their communities—isn’t well known.
EMSI set out to tell the story of economic developers in the following video. Through the words of four economic development professionals, “Economic Developers: Prospering Communities” is a 2½-minute video tribute to the work of economic developers throughout the country.
We’ve released the video on the eve of the International Economic Development Council’s 2015 annual conference in Anchorage, Alaska. EMSI will host a learning lab at IEDC titled “Data Analytics and the Economic Developer.” It’s slated for Monday, Oct. 5, at 3:15 p.m. We’ll also be at booth 406—drop by and say hello.
