What if you could search Emsi’s job postings database for anything? Really. Anything. For example, postings for the Python programming skill that contain the phrase “ninja.” Thanks to keyword search functionality now live for all Analyst and Developer users, you can.
Using quick keyword searches or full Boolean expressions, you can leverage Emsi’s job posting analytics to find exactly what you’re looking for. To learn how to make the most of the new keyword search functionality, check out our Knowledge Base guide.
This updated functionality opens up a world of unexplored analysis for users—from emerging skills to extremely granular keyword searches. Consider the following examples:
- You’re interested in registered nursing and need to know specifically about jobs that require an Associate in Nursing Science (ASN) degree, without including jobs that require a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. The keyword search, (“associate of science in nursing” OR ASN) NOT (“bachelor of science in nursing” OR BSN), brings up results for all job postings that contain ASN, but do not contain BSN—showing top companies hiring, job titles, skills, and certifications based on that filter.
- You’ve noticed the rise in popularity of drones in various industries, but aren’t sure what companies and occupations are connected to that trend. Now, with the quick search of “drone,” you can start to filter all job postings that mention drones.
- You’d like to add some personality to your job posting, but you aren’t sure if asking for someone who is a “ninja” in their field will make your posting stand out. With a quick keyword search of “ninja,” you can get closer look at the 8,000+ other postings that mention “ninja” in the US. In this case a tech company might want to reconsider, as many postings for software engineers reference the Ninja programming language.
There’s a good chance you’re wondering, “Are there really that many job postings with the word, “ninja?” We get it. Sometimes you just want to see the actual job posting. And to make sure our job posting analytics provide as much context as possible, our development team is currently working to add the capability to view the full text of job postings within your search.
