Emsi is pleased to announce the release of Alumni Outcomes. This powerful new functionality will empower colleges and universities to answer fundamental questions about their academic programs and the workforce outcomes of the students who enrolled in them.
The update will not automatically affect all Profile Analytics users, as Alumni Outcomes is different service that’s associated with a separate cost.
The Importance of Program-Level Analysis
Before we dive into the functionality of Alumni Outcomes, let’s quickly review Profile Analytics and why this new addition is so important.
Profile Analytics is an application that hosts more than 107 million professional profiles from alumni across the US, making it easy to explore different aspects of the labor market with some quick filtering. In seconds, you can look at the alumni of a particular institution, in a given region, for a specific occupation, at a given company. With this data in hand, colleges and universities can better understand alumni outcomes, engage businesses, and connect with past students.
However, because the majority professional profiles do not include information about program of study, Profile Analytics data on its own cannot fully answer the question: How do these outcomes relate to our academic programs?
Enter Alumni Outcomes .
Thanks to an extensive matching process that compares Emsi profile data against an institution’s database of student records, Alumni Outcomes opens the door to analyzing alumni outcomes in relation to their program of study.
Colleges that elect to go through this matching process can use the data to answer program-related questions like the following:
- What percent of our psychology alumni are working in a related field?
- How many of our business administration alumni are employed in the region?
- Which employers are hiring our mechanical engineering alumni? And what skills do those mechanical engineering alumni have?
How It Works
Alumni Outcomes is focused solely on your alumni with an added filter for your academic programs. The “My School Summary” report allows you to slice and dice the data on your alumni every which way to answer a wide variety of outcomes-related questions. See the video below for a quick walk through of the “My School Summary” report.
Some users simply need a quick overview of a program that they can export and pass along to a dean or another key stakeholder. For them, the Program Snapshot report is perfect. Just select your program and go.
For an in-depth walk through of this new functionality, user applications, and best practices, join Emsi for a webinar on August 24th. Learn more and sign up below.
We look forward to sharing this work with you, as well as getting your feedback on what we can do to better meet the data needs at your institution.
