Using the Company Talent Profile to Inform Employer Engagement in Higher Ed

July 27, 2018 by Remie Verougstraete

Last week, we announced an exciting new report available in Analyst called the Company Talent Profile. It’s a fast, easy way to get a snapshot of a company’s employment characteristics and needs through the lens of workforce profiles and job postings.

For colleges and universities, the Company Talent Profile provides critical insight that can help leaders take an informed, proactive approach to developing strategic partnerships in their region. In just a few clicks, schools can access key data points, including:

1) Current occupations and job titles

The report delivers a breakdown of the various job types within a company, based on current employees’ online profiles and resumes. This provides helpful context for understanding job posting activity (i.e. are they looking to hire more of what they have? Or are they changing strategy and expanding in a new direction?). It can also help schools zero in on a company’s areas of expertise, which could inform conversations about program advisory participation or student mentorship opportunities.

2) Jobs they are trying to fill and skills they want to hire

In a single report, you can easily view the top 15 in-demand job titles and skills at the company and see how posting activity has changed over the past 12 months. This allows you to get a better sense of the company’s future direction, and which of their talent needs are the most persistent across time.

3) Other companies looking for similar talent

Looking to expand your network of private-industry partners? The Company Talent Profile report includes a list of the top 15 companies hiring for the same kinds of jobs in the same region as the company you are researching. View posting trends over time to find companies that might be especially interested in working together to create a talent pipeline for them—and great careers for your students.
