Data plays a major role in Mississippi’s economic development work. William Ashley. Director of Business Research and Workforce Development at Mississippi Development Authority explains to us how.
Mississippi Development Authority is the state of Mississippi’s lead economic and community development agency. We recruit new business to the state, retain and expand existing businesses, and provide technical assistance to the state’s entrepreneurs and programs that support minority and women-owned businesses.
We also provide Mississippi’s corporate citizens with export assistance, manage the state’s energy programs, and oversee programs that help communities become more competitive. Lastly, we work to promote and support the states tourism industry.
We use all sorts of Emsi Burning Glass data in all of our RFI responses. From laborshed, wage level, industry output, and the number of jobs in each target sector, to emerging target sectors, cluster analysis-target market recruiting, and I-O analysis.
