As you’ve probably heard this week, Emsi and Burning Glass are joining forces which means I’ll be riding off into the sunset for my next adventure.
I did rent a unicorn to ride off into the sunset with.
– It will be fantastic.
And I am super grateful for the 20 years that I’ve had at Emsi.
I’ve been deeply blessed by all of you, not just the amazing colleagues that I’ve gotten to work with, but all of you guys, the many awesome customers working really hard to change lives and promote economic prosperity across our country and the world.
One of the great people that I’ve gotten to work with is this guy, Rob.
We’ve been working together now for 15 years.
Pass it over to Rob.
(Andrew making noise)
– I started at Emsi as a technical writer back in my twenties, fresh out of grad school with a degree in environmental science.
I know, super relevant, right?
And look where it all ended up.
Career pathways are a funny thing.
You just never know where roads will take you.
And while it’s hard to say, I’ll also be stepping away from Emsi to pursue new opportunities.
And I’ll miss working with you all from the eBooks, to the white papers, to the Emsi conference.
I’ve loved every minute of the past 15 years.
Helping to create the Emsi brand as well as collaborating with so many great individuals and organizations across the country.
I’m super thankful to Andrew, to Emsi, and to all of you.
You mean the world to me and my family, and we are incredibly grateful for the privilege of working with you and for you.
– So that’s why we’re here.
We’re not here to give you stats or data or even pranks today.
– We’re just here to say thank you.
Although we might come up with a prank a little bit later we’re just here to say, thank you.
Thank you for the opportunity to work together to create more prosperity across the economy and for trusting us to support the work that you do.
I wouldn’t change any of it for the world.
– And even as we step away, we want to encourage you to keep working with our colleagues.
Keep exploring new ways to use labor market data to change the lives of people who need help.
To address the sansdemic we’ve been talking about, and to help people know that they are more valuable than they could have ever imagined and that there is a wealth of opportunity out there waiting for them.
– So we might be sailing off into the sunset on an amazing rowboat.
– A lot of metaphors.
– But I’m also super encouraged.
I’m super encouraged because Emsi has a growing crowd of super talented people.
They are here to help you and it’s going to be really fantastic.
And we are rooting for them and we are rooting for you.
Change can be weird, but the new combined company will be in a fantastic position to solve problems at a whole new level.
And we are excited to see what they accomplish.
– Here’s my encouragement for you.
Use data to do great things.
Enjoy the work.
All work is problem solving.
So keep getting after those problems.
It’s truly a blessing to help other people.
And remember, the labor market is non-linear, it twists and turns.
Just like we’re seeing right now, right?
It throws curve balls.
Embrace that and enjoy it.
– The future is bright.
Keep blessing, keep working, and live every minute to the fullest.
– So this may be our last beer with Emsi, but stay tuned for what’s next.
– Have a great day and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.
