Workforce Collaboration Summit

Using Data to Help Align Florida's Workforce Needs

Recap

University of Florida, Sept 26, 2019

Thanks for attending the Summit. It was a fantastic day of conversation, demos, networking, and... data! Over 70 attendees joined the conversation; these leaders and data analysts represented higher ed, economic development, workforce, and industry.

While it was important for us to provide a dedicated space and time for collaboration, we were insistent on promoting a spirit of ongoing cooperation. We wanted to end the day with attendees having actionable notes to take back to the office. We hope the following information will spur additional discussion on how to use and share data to encourage productive collaboration.

Key Action Items:

Hold an annual Florida Data Summit to help drive progress, strategies, policy and outcomes in education, workforce, development and industry.

  • We're pleased to announce that Emsi and the FL Consortium of Metro Research Universities are committed to hosting another state-wide Summit in 2020. The event will be held in Orlando or Miami.

Create a cross-sector data-use working group.

  • This group could initially create a data tool kit and develop an action plan.
  • This learning and sharing community would conduct webinars, face-to-face dialogues, etc.
  • Create an online sharing platform.
  • Regional groups could be created to give greater focus on cities.
